Well the first book ended with Sebastian walking in and saying he needed a favor So of course I wanted to read the next book I kinda liked this story although it probably could have been better I really liked Sebastian s grandmother even though only played a tiny role in story The author did a great job with the major minor character if that makes sense of Rawlings I really look forward to reading his book even though hated him at first Emma is looking to finally marry despite her tarnished reputation Sebastian is getting married and all he is worried about is his reputation Well of course you can guess these two are gonna butt heads They decide a betrothal fake between them would serve their purposes And lets just add that they will pick out the spouse for the other Things certainly get complicated when they can not get the other off their mind long enough to look for a spouse

review The Seduction of Sebastian St. James (The House of Renwick, #2) The Seduction of Sebastian St. James (The House of Renwick, #2) characters ´ 6 Free download Ñ PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB ë Rachel Van Dyken Ikely alliance with Miss Emma Gates the beautiful daughter of a wealthy viscount who has deemed herself on the shelf and only wants to marry in order to appease her parents Together they could sort through the mire of would be mates to find their perfect matches That is if they could keep their hands off each other. I feel like I should be ashamed at how uickly I read this Perhaps I should be ashamed that I fall in to the grips of romance novels so easily in general but if there s a sucker born every minute I m probably one of them too I downloaded this on a whim not knowing that it was part of a series but it s not necessary to have read the previous one in order to keep up with the goings on of this book And on that matter the goings on are thoroughly engaging without being downright tawdry which lessens the guilt a bit I supposeSet in Victorian London one of my weak spots for fiction anyway the audience is immediately introduced to Emma Gates as a young girl The prologue witnesses Emma s assumed societal ruination when it appears that she s allowed a young man to take advantage of her despite being utterly innocent Fast forwarding to Emma s mid twenties bordering the edge of marriageable age the story swiftly introduces the titular hero Sebastian St James the Duke of Tempest This being a romance novel I m sure all of us can guess where this is heading but the journey is still surprisingly fun I actually found myself rooting for Emma a girl who s had to become not only witty but intelligent while building a wall around herself that of course can only be broken down by the most charming and wealthy and titled and attractive of men Despite sticking strictly with the formula the twists and turns are fun and the book never overstays its welcome The exchanges between Sebastian and Emma are entertaining there was an undeniable charm in the reuisite heartstrings tug of war While there were certainly moments of cheese and eye rolling isn t that why you read these things though there was an effort to be true to the time period and I respect that With the exception of a couple of phrases that than likely weren t often overheard at balls and in parlors there was enough of an appreciation of the expectations and traditions of the time that I couldn t help but feel that I just LIKED the book It s not challenging and won t begin philosophical discussions but right now with a heat wave occurring in the Northeast when it s all I can do to get up and get water from the tap I don t want to do heavy thinking I just want to turn off my brain for a bit and wander around the British countryside and London society extravaganzas

This is the first book I ve ever read by Rachel Van Dyken and what a wonderful read it was Emma s character was lovely I simply adored her adventurous spirit and found myself rooting for her the entire time Finding herself ruined albeit mistakenly so for she was innocent though even her own parents failed to believe her she lives with the constant fear that her tarnished reputation will become public knowledge destroying her chances of happiness forever Naturally things are about to get a bit tricky when she meets Sebastian St James the devastatingly gorgeous angel duke His reputation is spotless he is a gentleman through and through and though he seeks marriage it must be to someone with an eually spotless reputation see where this is going DTheir interactions with one another are wonderfully entertaining Though there were a couple of instances where I wasn t exactly sure of whose pov I was following I believe it was purposefully done to keep the reader guessing about the identity of the bad guy yes there s one of those too I didn t feel as if it distracted from the plot which was excellently devised in order to hold the reader captive Looking forward to reading the seuel
