What a refreshing and fun read The sarcasm and humor stayed strong throughout The main character the inimitable Sir Kay is a sufficiently practical and average man with a far above average education much to everyone else s confusion When he finally finds a woman to match both his wits and his knowledge he falls and falls hard Then he meets an unusual traveler straight out of a Mark Twain tale I must admit I felt perverse pride when he noted one of Gilda s talents as I too can produce an ear shattering whistle with my fingers But then again I can also do algebra in my head so there s that And the maddening love triangle was intriguing to say the least I do believe Oswald is my favorite character A perfect foil to the steadiness of Kay

kaffka the holy grail and a woman who reads Read ¹ 109 Rusty Rhoad ´ 9 Summary Read á E-book, or Kindle E-pub ´ Rusty Rhoad Peace has finally been achieved and it sucks At least for Sir KayI mean nobody really likes the cold and the fear of war but compared with now Kaffka that delicious dark roasted heady beverage Merlin brought back from the Middle East is long gone Arthur expects Kay to run castle and kingdom just because he’s the only person in 6th century Britain who can do algebra if a knight rides forth from Camelot at three leagues per hour Guinevere treats him as her pe. This book has a great concept it explores the tale of Arthur s foster brother Sir Kay to reestablish his position as an important and trusted Knight of the Round Table In Kaffka The Holy Grail and a Woman who Reads The uests of Sir Kay we are told the story of Camelot through the eyes of a knight who has the most important responsibility of all ensuring that the day to day of Camelot runs smoothly and that all its uesting knights are well fed The daily life of court is well outlined and the Jousting Tournament is described particularly clearly giving a detailed account of how such tournaments would work Each featured Knight of the Round Table is succinctly described and Merlin is an influential character in his absence Kay s flashbacks disrupt dialogue on occasion but overall are interesting insights into the world created for this taleKay is better at everything than everyone including also being better at being worse at things like fighting which adds to his egotistical character At times his inner monologue borders on a rant and I feel the prose s crisp style is cramped by the freuency of swearing a tool which would have been effectively used sparingly The narrative seems directionless at times and the lack of agency of female characters particularly Elaine and Morgan is a let down Kay s sexist musings and poor choices of language generally vilify and objectify women punching down rather than punching up If an intended evolution from sexist to feminist was intended for Kay it is not sufficiently communicated nor do his muted why not responses to Elaine and Morgan s pro euality statements do enough to counter his derogatory remarksDespite this the prose is well constructed and imaginative bending history slightly for comic relief For me the wittier moments include references to the economy and plays on language the origin of OK is the subject of a particularly entertaining scene The back and forth provided by Oswald is engaging and Arthur and Galahad are both likeable characters I found the notion of Morgan s court particularly entertaining though was disappointed that is not done with her or Elaine s character or indeed with the other women in this book The Grail uest is explored in a fresh and interesting way touching upon the conflicts between religions that are often explored in Arthurian literature based shortly after the Romans left I am sure there will be many who can look past the shortcomings with the female characters in this novel and find this book an entertaining read but as they say each to his own this book is just not for meI am voluntarily reviewing this book I thank the author for sharing a copy of the book with me Die unendliche Geschichte person in 6th century Britain who can do algebra if a knight rides forth from Camelot at three leagues The Ladies of Grace Adieu and Other Stories per hour Guinevere treats him as her The Big Book of Blues The Fully Revised and Updated Biographical Encyclopedia pe. kaffka the holy grail and a woman who reads Read ¹ 109 Rusty Rhoad ´ 9 Summary Read á E-book, or Kindle E-pub ´ Rusty Rhoad Rsonal gofer Middle age is fast upon Kay and the only uest available is to rescue Miffy a fair but empty headed lady’s imprisoned dogAh but who knows what adventures lie out there away from the comforts of Camelot The Holy Grail if one were interested in such a bauble Magic in the form of an ageless beauty with a treacherous reputation Morgan le Fay Perhaps the ultimate prize a woman who readsOr maybe just a night under the stars with no liveried page face. Kaffka the Holy Grail and a Woman Who Reads The uests of Sir Kay is a light and witty read with regular chuckles and some laugh out loud moments The giggles are thanks to Rusty Rhoad s deft juxtaposition of anachronism and Arthurian legend and even to the choice of telling the story in Kay s droll self effacing blaspheming first person voiceKay s talents for numbers and efficiency have made him King Arthur s seneschal he manages Camelot s social calendar as well as the vast Camelot kitchens and staff Although Kay is no weakling he admits to being no better than middling when it comes to the joust Still he s a knight of the Round Table so he s better than your average Joe He excels at math and chess and wishes for a female companion with whom to share his intellect But alas this is Camelot it s the Dark Ages and most people don t even know how to read Certainly not women Kay finds an intellectual friend in his young suire Oswald whose bravery and uick wit come in handy than onceAlmost as much as Kay wants to find his female eual he yearns for a cup of hot kaffka a pick me up drink made from the exotic kaffka bean which doesn t grow in Britain Not yet at least But that s a uest for another day He yearns for a kaffka bush on the Glastonbury Tor instead of the thorn planted there by Joseph of AramitheaKay asks King Arthur to send him on a uest but the king sends Galahad instead saying he needs Kay at home to orchestrate upcoming social events Kay is so angry and hurt that he directs his kitchen staff to ruin that evening s dinner thus forcing the king to find a uest for his seneschal With apologies Arthur sends Kay to rescue a dog It s all I ve got he saysThe uest introduces Kay and Oswald to all sorts of adventures including wild romps in bed with King Arthur s half sister Morgan not in lurid detail but not for kids either Kay also meets his adversary Maleagan at whose hideous castle resides another sister of King Arthur the Princess Elaine Elaine is older than Kay which puts her in her early fifties She is beautiful She is smart And she can read Kay falls madly in love and thank goodness Elaine does too because their verbal jousting is a delight But Kay has sworn an oath to Maleagan that keeps him apart from his loveI sometimes save my 5 star reviews for life changing tomes Kaffka the Holy Grail and a Woman Who Reads has not altered my life nor does it set out to do so In this story action and adventure take a back seat to wit and charm and it s got plenty of stars worth of both Here is a tale of erudition wit love and even feminism a talky book but when it s Kay talking that s a big plus Rhoad includes the Holy Grail Merlin Guinevere Lancelot and everyone else who belongs in a Camelot tale including a castle guard named Rood which he is But this is Kay s story told from his point of view and his voice is the real fun of the bookI am reviewing this book voluntarily I thank the author for sharing a copy of the book with me

Read & download kaffka the holy grail and a woman who reads PDF DOWNLOAD [kaffka the holy grail and a woman who reads] AUTHOR Rusty Rhoad My memory of Sir Kay—like probably most everyone else in my generation—was from Disney The amiable cloddish foster brother of Arthur served his purpose and was eminently forgettable How amusing to see him resurrected in Rusty Rhoad’s clever novel as a substantial member of the Round Table—competent self effacing and generally useful around the castle He’s brain than brawn and falls in love with Kin
